The history of LEGO® Serious Play®

LSP was invented in the mid-90s by the LEGO company in Denmark (notably the company’s owner, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen) and two business professors (Johan Roos and Bart Victor). They came up with a way to do business strategy using their own LEGO bricks.

From 2000 to 2010, Robert Rasmussen and Per Kristiansen (LEGO), along with Johan Roos developed and enhanced the LSP methodology into what we use today. From 2010 onwards LEGO made LSP open-source and released it into the wider world.

The new, open-source ‘community model’ allowed for rapid growth in the number of people using the method and the wide variety of applications. LSP gradually made its way around the globe and has been growing in popularity in Australasia over the past few years.
